About the author:

Chirasree is a 29-year-old passionate writer and reader who wants to make a difference through her writing. She is an editor, content writer, blogger and software engineer. With her debut book ‘Done With Her’, she’s just set her foot on the arena of authors. However, she likes to define herself with just one word, that is — A DREAMER.

My take on the book:

Avesh Mathur comes across Spreeha at his workplace and the attraction is instantaneous. But what starts haunting Avesh is the unmistakable resemblance of Spreeha to Chanda, a past he is fighting to forget. His obsession for Spreeha increases when he finds her living in the same building in an opposite flat. What adds to his trouble is that Spreeha is spotted with his missing friend Dheeraj. The cold eyes and plain expressions of Spreeha only increase Avesh’s curiosity though he finds that she is now his friend’s wife.

The longing and obsession is mutual as Avesh also reminds Spreeha of someone from her past. As the situations around him keep getting complicated with each day, Avesh finds himself getting attracted to Spreeha more. The confession from Spreeha that she knows he loves her too only adds to Avesh’s psyche to be with her under any circumstances. Does this lust cost Avesh and Spreeha more than they realize at there outset? Is the past indeed left behind or does it come back to show its deadly truth forms the rest of the story.

The blurb is so intriguing and interesting which compel the reader to pick the book, so does the cover, which all hint at a dark mystery waiting to unfold. The author does a fantastic job in her debut book with minimal characters but with a story that thrills and chills in each measure. The highlight however is the social message the story tries to give at the end in a subtle way.

The story starts on a high note which is maintained well in the first half. The narration however loses direction and grip towards the end, as the mystery unfolds. For a seasoned mystery reader, the suspense does not hold attention towards the climax as there too many easy clues left. A more tighter narration in the second half without unnecessary loopholes would have done wonders to the book. This book is unputdownable once you start as the curiosity increases with each page. An absolute page turner, pick this one for a thriller with a social message, as the author shows lot of promise in her debut work.

My rating:
