My take on the book:

A Slice of Life is a collection of eighteen short stories with a common theme of relationships. Some of them are very short spreading over one to two pages, others a few pages more. The stories touch on all sort of relationships — romantic, work, parent-child, marriage and beyond.

The language is lucid, and the narration flows well. Most stories have unexpected twists and endings, in a good way, which I enjoyed well. Some stories are very touching and carry a subtle message as well. The stories are all drawn from everyday life experiences and may give a deja vu feeling. I personally liked the ones which were longer and wish the others also spanned more pages as they have scope for better character development.

Forever Love is my favorite of the lot as it is very unpredictable however makes the reader emotional with the storyline. The author showcases her command on handling multiple genres by compiling stories of such varied depth.

At 100 pages, this collection is a very quick read and is ideal for a lazy afternoon read. Do pick this one if you are fan of short and realistic stories.

My rating:

4/5.
