My take on the book:

Amudha takes up research when she fails to clear job interviews during campus selections. While research is an excuse for Amudha to escape from her life and family, things takes a turn when she discovers an old book in a bookstore. Thus starts her search to find the long lost owner of the book and crack the puzzle. Does she succeeds ultimately in this quest and will this be a life changer or a routine failure for Amudha as always forms rest of the story.

This is a quick and short but fast read — starts with Amudha’s life as a student then to taking up research and while helping a friend solve some tough mathematics problems, Amudha coming across this old book and thus embarking on a mysterious journey. The puzzle gets complex as Amudha finds it very tough to find the missing pieces and hits a road block with each clue.

The language, backdrop and the initial suspense around the person Amudha starts out to search are gripping. The way Amudha goes from one clue to next and how the suspense unfolds is interesting. However, I personally felt the back story and the ultimate reveal were not as gripping as it was maintained till then. Also, it is difficult to relate to the reason why Amudha wants to crack this puzzle. It would have been a much better read if the back story lived upto the suspense built till then. However, it still makes for a good one time read.
